Trio Imago
Trio Imago is a chamber ensemble consisting of recorder player Ida Höög, cellist Christian Berg and guitarist Alvi Joensen. Performing on Renaissance and Baroque recorders, Baroque cello and Baroque guitar, the trio explores the meeting point between early music and contemporary art music.
The ensemble’s artistic vision is rooted in the conviction that historical instruments have a natural place in today’s musical landscape – not merely as vehicles for preserving a musical heritage, but also as instruments for creating new forms of artistic expression. By bringing together music from different periods, Trio Imago creates unexpected encounters between timbres and styles, allowing early music to emerge in a new light and inspire fresh artistic perspectives.
The trio combines historically informed interpretations of early repertoire with the development of new music in close collaboration with living composers. A particular focus is on exploring how the distinctive timbres, performance techniques and expressive possibilities of historical instruments can be reimagined and expanded within a contemporary context.
Driven by a curiosity about music’s capacity to transform across time, Trio Imago seeks to create concert experiences in which tradition and innovation are not opposing forces, but complementary elements that open doors to new musical worlds.
