Alvi Joensen is a versatile musician, guitarist, and composer with a passion for contemporary art music. For his diploma concert, he commissioned the guitar concerto "Distant Fires" from renowned Swedish composer Staffan Storm, premiered by the Swedish string orchestra Musica Vitae and internationally acclaimed percussionist Johan Bridger. In 2021, Joensen released his debut album "Lost Gems," featuring rarely performed pieces on the brink of being forgotten.

Chamber music holds a special place for Joensen, and he actively participates in several ensembles. The flute and guitar duo HΛV, which he co-founded with Marianne Sihvonen, focuses on highlighting environmental issues through contemporary art music. Trio Vilse, originally formed for a dance project, has become a permanent ensemble that regularly commissions new works, premiering six pieces by composers such as Stefan Klaverdal, Mirjam Tally, Anna Eriksson, and Daniel Hjorth.

In 2022, Joensen began studying composition, leading to several premieres by established ensembles, including GAGEEGO!, Messiaen Quartet Copenhagen, Petri Sångare, and Jönköping Sinfonietta. His works have been performed throughout the Nordic countries, as well as in Switzerland and Italy. In spring 2025, he will conclude his composition studies with a new piece for the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, set to premiere on May 7, 2025, at the Helsingborg Concert Hall.
